WIDNES Vikings are bringing Touch Rugby back to the area this summer with the launch of the new Vikings ‘Fit Fans’ programme.
The Vikings are partnering with Halton Borough Council to support Vikings fans to get fit through weekly ‘play touch rugby league’ opportunities.
Widnes Vikings Touch Rugby for men and women aged 16+ will launch on Friday August 7th at the Select Security Stadium. Sessions will run from 6 – 7.30pm.
Alongside the touch rugby programme, Vikings staff will be on hand to support participants with practical advice on weight management, diet, alcohol and smoking cessation.
Richard Munson, Community Integrated Director said: ‘The Fit Fans programme is an exciting new strand to our partnership with the Halton Borough Council Public Health team. Not only will adults get the opportunity to come and play touch rugby league on the pitch at the Select Security Stadium, but those who wish will be able to get support with key issues such as weight management. It’s a simple concept, we want to make out fans the fittest in Super League.’
Sessions will be £2. Contact Liam Clark, Community Development Officer, on 0151 495 2250 for more details.
