WIDNES Vikings' winger Patrick Ah Van has signed a one-year contract extension following a number of sensational performances on the wing in the club’s black and white colours.

Ah Van's performance on Saturday at Magic Weekend was another stand-out for the 27-year-old as he ran in two tries and played a key role in the Vikings’ 32-16 victory over Salford Red Devils in front of a massive crowd at St James’ Park.

A strong-running winger in both attack and defence, Ah Van has the ability to appear almost from nowhere to score tries and he regularly impresses with his ability to ‘levitate’ while planting the ball in the corner.

Head Coach Denis Betts commented: “This is fantastic for us. Pat has been an amazing acquisition for us since he came to us from Bradford. His try scoring ability is second to none.

"Getting him on the field more regularly and seeing what he can do has always been our main priority.

"Pat has now got the chance to keep doing the things he does so well for us and to score some more spectacular tries moving forward.”

Ah Van is excited about playing for the Vikings for another year and is committed to contributing to the club’s ongoing improvement.

He said: “I am very excited to be a part of Widnes Vikings for another year. I have really enjoyed playing here with all the boys.

"We all get along on and off the field so it was an easy choice to sign to stay with the club. The coaching staff have helped me learn a lot and I still feel I have got a lot to learn so will be aiming to keep improving for the Vikings.

"As a team we have been improving every year so hopefully we can win a title with this bunch of boys."
