DENIS Betts is not targeting the visit of Warrington as Vikings’ key game over Easter, but insists his side must win their home fixtures.

Vikings welcome Wolves to the Select Security Stadium, Thursday, 8pm, before playing Catalans Dragons in Perpignan on Easter Monday, kick off 6pm.

But Betts, whose side’s only home defeat so far came against St Helens, says picking up points in front of their own fans is ‘paramount’.

“There’s no target, but our home games are essential to us,” said Vikings’ head coach. “I felt disappointed we lost against St Helens here, we should have beat them.

“Our home form is paramount, you speak to any team in the competition, making sure you home form is good no matter who you play is vital to where you are going to finish in the season .”

Vikings are boosted by the return of captain Kevin Brown, while Lloyd White is also fit and Danny Tickle is expected to play tomorrow before having an operation on Saturday.

Chris Clarkson will miss out and is due to see a specialist about a broken thumb sustained in the loss to Salford while Betts says Paddy Flynn’s hamstring injury rules him out for at least two to three weeks.

Vikings begin their journey to Perpignan on Saturday and will fly back Tuesday morning ahead of another short turnaround for trip to Hull FC a week on Friday.

But first Betts hopes to gain some bragging rights by beating Tony Smith’s Warrington side.

“The crowd, the place, it’s a great feeling,” Betts said about Thursday’s derby clash.

“Then there are the bragging rights between us, St Helens and Warrington.

“This Easter game has been fantastic the last few years. The crowds have been great.

“It’s about how we understand our enemy and understand ourselves.”
