Widnes West Bank 22 Waterhead 15.
WEST Bank maintained their perfect start to the National Conference Interim season with their eleventh consecutive win.
They now top Group E going into the last round of fixtures unbeaten.
Bank came up against a determined Oldham side that came with the intention of stopping the Bears topping their group.
Unusually, in the first attack, the visitors took the lead with a drop goal from Carl Sneyd.
With a touchdown and a conversion from the same player the one pointer suddenly didn’t seem like such a bad idea.
However when West Bank began to secure quality possession the game was turned on its head with a brace from the prolific Jordan Barr and Wayne Courtnage scored his first try since returning from a broken leg.
Ste Mellor converted twice for a convincing lead.
Waterhead showed they were far from demoralised with a last minute score to leave West Bank 16-11 to the good at half time.
With the game evenly poised Jack White struck once again half way through the half to which Mellor added the extras and the Bears could breathe easily again.
The visitors hit back one more time but the lack of a conversion meant West Bank had a crucial 7 point lead.
Waterhead nominated Shane Grady as Man of the Match.
