WIDNES came up just short in their first game back in North One West following promotion, but they did secure a bonus point from this closely fought affair.
They were behind 6-0 at half time thanks to two Craig Harvey penalties, before centre Chris Schofield reduced the arrears with the only try of the game in the corner. Inside a frantic last 10 minutes, James Annetts added a couple of drop goals along with another Harvey penalty, before Kevin Leadbetter slotted over a penalty for the home side.
