Cronton Villa Celtic U17 3 Appleton Boys U17 1 CRONTON U17s are through to the Warrington Challenge Cup Final on 23 May at Victoria Park. They got off to the worst possible start after three minutes when Appleton scored with a speculative overhead kick from the edge of the area.
Michael Fielding had two goal bound efforts cleared off the line before Adam Walker equalised with a cracking volley. Cronton continued to dominate and came close when Terry Buck hit the post.
Cronton finally got their reward when Michael Wilson curled a fine free kick into the far top corner of the Appleton net to make it 2-1. Peter Fielding finally wrapped things up by forcing his way into the area and smashing the ball past the Appleton keeper. This was a good battling performance from Cronton Villa in the face of some fierce tackling from Appleton and they fully deserved their win. A special mention for Tom Featherstone and John Sherer who were rock solid at the back.
