RUNCORN race-ace Ian Mackman has made a tentative return to the track following the terrifying 120mph crash last September which left him with a punctured lung and breaks to eight ribs, a collarbone, shoulder blade and back bones.
The 30-year-old had to spend a month in Bangor Hospital after the accident in Anglesey.
But he was pleased following a good day of testing and getting used to his bike again during a track day at Oulton Park on Friday.
Mackman said: “It was a shame about the weather with it being wet and damp, but it was good to get a shake down on the bike.
“It was not so bad that it was wet really because it stopped me from racing the clock and I could just settle back in with no pressure.
“I did the first session after lunch then called it a day; I had achieved all that I was going to considering the weather.
“I could only do six-lap stints before my hands were numb anyway!
“I now plan to be back out at Anglesey for a track day on Sunday. I feel fit and well and am looking forward to the rest of the year.”
