Higginshaw Eagles 42 Widnes Tigers 0
WITH only 13 players available the Tigers still honoured their away fixture at fourth placed Eagles, where other teams might have conceded the game.
The result was inevitable, but the Tigers gave Higginshaw a competitive game, never took a backward step in defence, were unlucky not to score on a number of occasions and managed to keep the score respectable for much of the first half.
Outstanding performances from Tigers forwards with Liam O’Connor, Craig Tollitt and Sean Campbell causedproblems for the Eagles with some powerful drives up field as well as defending relentlessly.
Half backs Mike Barr and Shaun Parsonage worked tirelessly to create openings but had to devote much of their time to defending. Tigers man of the match was awarded to Danny Cooney.
Saturday sees the Tigers away again, this time at Eccles and Salford.
