WIDNES under 11s started the new year where they finished the last with a convincing win over Liverpool St Helens at Prescot Road.

Widnes got off to a flying start with a well worked try, Jonathon Riley storming over to give the home team a five point lead with Sam Freeman converting.

Big John Brett parted the LSH defence as if it didn’t exist to score his first try before Josh Boughey went over to score.

Freeman converting both to make it 21-0 at half time.

The Wids were forced to defend brilliantly in the second half to keep LSH at bay and Connagh Grace and several other players put in some booming tackles.

John Leonard then sprinted up from the full back position to touch the ball down in the LSH try area.

This was again successfully converted by Freeman making the final score 28-0 to the Wids.
