ROB Shone brought the curtain down on a superb coaching career by leading Halton Simms Cross to their third BARLA Champion of Champions title.
Despite a 15-6 penalty count against them, they beat Sharlston Rovers 38-12 at Fylde with a devastating display in which Brian Capewell scored three tries and landed seven goals.
Steve McDermott got the first try and there were others from Neil Percival and loose forward Gary MIddlehurst, who sliced through the Sharlston defence on numerous occasions and must have been very close to McDermott for the man of the match award. The crucial stage came in the first 10 minutes of the second half. Sharlston cut the gap to 14-12 but Simmies hit them with 12 points in the space of nine minutes to kill off the challenge.
