Cheadle Heath Nomads 2 Rylands 5

RYLANDS surged to the top of the North West Counties League First Division South table after another dominant victory.

Cheadle Heath Nomads were the latest victims of their rampant attack on Saturday, with player/co-manager Stuart Wellstead plundering a hat-trick in what was the first of four consecutive away matches for his side.

Jay White and Ste Wolhulter were also on the scoresheet as the Gorsey Lane side surged to the summit, two points clear of Wythenshawe Amateurs having played a game less.

Fast starts have been a hallmark of this Blues side and Saturday was no different as they were 3-0 up after half an hour with two goals from Wellstead and one from White.

That was how it stayed until half time, but it took Wellstead just eight minutes of the second half to complete his hat-trick.

Cheadle Heath pulled a goal back with 15 minutes remaining through Ashley Crank, but Wolhulter got in on the act five minutes later to continue Rylands’ dominance by scoring their fifth goal.

Kayle Power scored the hosts’ second goal from the penalty spot late on, but they could not take the shine off Rylands’ day.

Blues' next test sees them travel to Shropshire to take on St Martins on Saturday, kick off 3pm.
