WIDNES Vikings crashed to their 15th straight defeat on Friday at Leeds and even coach Francis Cummins said the team "embarrassed themselves".

Vikings were only ever playing for pride, given that their remaining games will not count for anything in the Qualifiers.

But Cummins was nevertheless bitterly disappointed with the 34-0 loss.

Cummins said: "This was the worst performance while I've been in charge and to a man, we've embarrassed ourselves tonight.

"Leeds played well but we allowed them to because we didn't show enough energy in what we were trying to do.

"Our defence wasn't good enough and we probably took a shortcut where we thought we could have a rest and get back in the line.

"The character of the team is generally that they work hard for each other - sometimes too hard because they don't get it right first time - but we were off tonight."
