Warrington Wolves u19 12 Leeds Rhinos u19 26

IN their first game under the interim stewardship of Chris Rudd, The Wire’s under 19s could not make the most of a promising first half.

The hosts competed well before the break at Victoria Park on Saturday afternoon but were kept off the scoresheet in the second period.

Riley Dean and Eribe Doro crossed in the first half as Warrington turned round only two points behind, but interim head coach Rudd admitted their display after the interval was “below par.”

“I was really pleased with the way the lads performed in the first half and we were really unlucky to go in behind at the break,” he said.

“We thought at half time that we had a great chance of claiming the win.

“Unfortunately, our second-half display was below par and we allowed Leeds to control the tempo and claim a win.

“I couldn’t fault the effort of the players, but our execution at crucial times let us down and we were unable to turn our territorial advantage into points.”

The team now face St Helens at Victoria Park on Saturday, kick off 11am.
