WIDNES Vikings turned out in numbers for the annual Magic fixture - again at Newcastle United's ground.

Two tries apiece from Ryan Morgan and Regan Grace saw Saints secure a 38-18 victory but Widnes were nothing if not game particularly in a first half which saw them trailing by just four points.

The Vikings struck first when Matt Whitley crashed in from Jordan Johnstone’s short ball.

After Saints had scored three times, another smart piece of dummy-half work from Johnstone saw Wellington Albert cross for Widnes to reduce the arrears.

And after Ben Barba had scored again, Jimmy Keinhorst crossed wide out to reduce the arrears to 22-18.

Vikings did not score in the second half, but they had given the league leaders plenty to think about.

Simon Hall captured some great images - on and off the field.
