WIDNES Vikings' game at Wigan has beaten the weather and will kick off tonight at 8pm.
After this morning’s meeting at the DW Stadium between the RFL match commissioner and officials from Widnes and Wigan it was agreed that game should go ahead this evening.
A Wigan statement on the club website said: "Every facet, particularly fan safety and the pitch, has been considered and the game will go ahead this evening as planned.
"The stadium, surrounding areas and car parks have all been inspected and are in a suitable condition.
"Temperatures are not expected to improve greatly this weekend and with a full fixture schedule both sides were keen for the game to take place."
Local roads are being treated throughout the day and are expected to be ok however fans are urged to check their route is safe before travelling.
Fans attending are being advised to wear several layers of clothing and take the usual precautions for cold weather.
