HALTON Swimming Club were in action in round four of the Merseyside & District Gala held at Kingsway Leisure Centre Halton were looking to better their third place finish in the previous round.

But with some of the older swimmers unavailable, Halton eventually finished in a disappointing 4th place after a total of 50 races Halton have now dropped to fourth place overall in the league table out of five teams but they are only one point off Prescot in third place.

Halton will be looking to improve their position in the final gala to be held at Prescot’s home pool in Huyton on the 6th May.

Haltons swimmers achieved ten 1st place finishes, seven 2nd places and seven 3rd place finishes.

There were still a number of fine performances regardless of the overall result as all those swimmers who were present swam their hearts out, some of whom competing in multiple races. A special mention must go to the following swimmers who all finished in 1st place in their respective races, Sam Shurie, Rhys Croasdale, Sophie Buckley, Ben Clayton, Joshua Howard Hughes, Ellie Jo Hughes, George Winckles and Daniel Buckley.

The final positions were Garston, 1st (189 pts), Garston, 2nd (183 pts), Prescot, 3rd (163 pts), Halton, 4th (152 pts) and Crosby 5th (114 pts).
