HALTON Swimming Club were represented by a small team of swimmers at the annual Wigan Future Stars Open Meet held at the Wigan Life Centre. Once again the young swimmers put in great performances and came away with numerous medals and personal bests. Nine year old Rhys Croasdale took part in the 50m & 200m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 50m & 200m breaststroke, 50m butterfly and the 100m individual medley. Rhys finished in 2nd, 1st, 5th, 4th, 3rd, 2nd and 2nd place respectively and produced new personal best times in all but one of the events. Nine year old Ruby Pritchard competed in the 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke and 100m individual medley. Ruby finished in 5th place in the 50m freestyle but produced two great results in the 50m backstroke where she claimed a bronze medal and silver in the 100m individual medley. All events produced new personal best times. Seventeen year old Rachel Bate produced good performances in the 50m freestyle, 50m breaststroke, 50m & 100m butterfly and 200m individual medley. Ten year old Bethany Howard-Hughes came 5th in the 100m freestyle with a new personal best time of 1:18.42s. Twelve year old Joshua Howard-Hughes was busy taking part in seven events. Josh took gold in the 400m freestyle and 1500m freestyle. Bronze medals came in the 50m and 200m backstroke. 5th place finishes came in the 200m freestyle and 50m freestyle. Twelve year old Jess Connolly entered the 400m freestyle event where she finished in 14th place in a time of 5:45.36s
