NATIONAL Arena Swimming League North West Division 1: Halton SC were in action again at the weekend taking part in Round 1 of the National Arena Swimming League.

Halton, who are currently in Division 1 of the North West Section, were looking to get off to a good start against some strong opposition.

With a small but very determined team, Halton produced a good display of swimming to finish the gala in fourth place, just two points off third place. The highlights of the evening were their four 1st place finishes, 11 runners up spots and ten third place finishes out of fifty events.

There were a number of personal bests with Ellie-Jo Hughes, Alfie Mather, Sam Clayton, Sophie Buckley, Tom Roberts, Lucy Harris and Libby Harrison deserving of a special mention.

Ellie-Joe knocked over two seconds off her 200m Individual Medley, Alfie knocked over a second off the 100m backstroke, Sam cut two and a half seconds off his 100m breaststroke time, Sophie shaved nearly half a second of her 50m backstroke, Tom knocked over a half a second off his 200 Individual Medley time, Lucy knocked nearly half a second off her 100m butterfly and Libby cut her 100m backstroke time by nearly a second.

The full result was 1st Everton (205 pts), 2nd Wrexham SC (204 pts), 3rd Blackburn Centurions (178 pts), 4th Halton SC (176), 5th Ulverston (148 pts) and 6th Hoylake (132 pts).
