ONE of Halton Swimming Clubs hardest working and most experienced members, Ellie- Jo Hughes is back in full training after the holiday period and is aiming to further fulfil her potential in the coming year.

A talented swimmer whose speciality is the hardest stroke of them all, the butterfly, Ellie-Jo finished last season on a high.

Ellie-Jo’s impressive form in the 2015-2016 season saw her qualify for numerous events in the end of season Swim Wales Summer Nationals held at the Wales National Pool, Swansea.

She qualified for the 50m, 100m, 200m freestyle, the 50m, 100m 200m butterfly and the 200m individual medley. Ellie Jo finished in 14th place in the 50m freestyle, 11th in the 100 freestyle in a new PB of 1:03.58 and 14th in the 200m freestyle in a new PB of 2:19.68.

She made the finals in all butterfly events finishing the 50m Butterfly in 7th place in a new PB of 31.12, 6th place in the 100m butterfly and narrowly missing out on the medals in finishing 4th in the 200m butterfly, a terrific achievement nonetheless.

Not just content in competing in the Welsh Nationals, Ellie-Jo took part in the COMAST Non National Qualifier held at Manchester Aquatics Centre.

She took part in the 100m backstroke finishing in 3rd place winning the bronze medal, the 200m individual medley, claiming a silver medal but she saved the best till last coming first in the 100m butterfly, securing the gold medal.

Ellie-Jo is goes into the forthcoming season full of confidence and in top form and is definitely one to watch this year.
