WIDNES Vikings are have secured prop Greg Burke, 23, on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

Wigan born prop Burke signed for the Warriors in 2013 making 23 appearances before going out on loan to Bradford Bulls/Workington during 2014.

The former Ince Rose Bridge amateur then the spent 2015 campaign on-loan at Hull KR before returning earning his spot back in the Wigan Warriors squad at the start of this year’s season.

Head Coach Denis Betts said: “Greg is a really positive signing for us, he is a young British forward with lots of potential coming out of a great system at Wigan.

“He is ambitious and looking to develop himself whilst adding strength to our squad, increasing the competition for places here at the Vikings.”

Burke added: “This is an exciting opportunity for me, to establish myself in a strong competitive Super League side week in week out.

“I already know a few of the boys, that makes the transition easier, and I can’t wait to take the field with and help cement the Vikings place in the Super 8s this year.”

Burke will start training with his new team mates today and will be assigned squad number 37.
