BOTH Widnes Vikings and Warrington Wolves have named their squads for Sunday’s festive ‘derby’ at the Select Security Stadium.

Vikings head coach Denis Betts has named a 22-man squad with Corey Thompson set to make his debut at full back.

Wolves have selected a team that includes five new signings, including Kurt Gidley at stand off.

Tom Gilmore and Warringtonian Joe Mellor are expected to start at half-back for the home team, which is set to include a mix of experience and youth.

Selection of Academy players comes after impressing Betts and his coaching staff during pre-season.

They include 16-year-old hooker Danny Walker, outside back Ryan Ince and the Chapelhow brothers.

There is more first-grade experience in the team named by Tony Smith for Warrington Wolves, who have made nine new signings for 2016.

Of the new recruits, Kurt Gidley (Newcastle Knights) is named at stand off, Tom Lineham (Hull FC) on the right wing, Jordan Cox (Hull KR) at prop forward, Jack Hughes (Wigan Warriors) in the second row and Benjamin Jullien (North Wales Crusaders) on the bench.
