VIKINGS have been dealt a double blow as they prepare for Sunday’s game against Hull Kingston Rovers at the Select Security Stadium.

Forwards Macgraff Leuluai and Willie Isa left the field injured during the 48-12 demolition of Sheffield Eagles last weekend with leg injuries and the prognosis on both men isn’t good.

Denis Betts said: “They probably both won’t play again this year.

“Macgraff will have an operation on a broken leg; he’s fractured his fibula so he’ll have a plate put in.

“He’s also done some ankle damage as well when he went over on it.

“It’s unfortunate because he’s developed as a player again this year and I think you would have seen the best out of him over the next three or four weeks.

“Another big loss to us is Willie. He’s got medial ligament damage to his knee.

“We’d like to get him back this year but the likelihood is it’s a six to eight week injury.

“That’s the nature of the game; it’s one of those things we go through all the time.”

Forwards Hep Cahill and Chris Clarkson are expected to be in contention for a recall to first-team duty this week alongside winger Patrick Ah Van as the Vikings look to extend their lead at the top of The Qualifiers.

This is Hull KR’s final game before the Challenge Cup Final – and that could work in Widnes favour if the Robins’ thoughts drift to next week.
