HALTON Spartans are urging American Football fans to get down to the Security Select Stadium and cheer them on in their final game of the season.

The Spartans, formed last year, will play host to Cumbrians Walney Terriers next Sunday (August 2) at 2pm, with entry prices set at £5 for two adults, £4 for one adult and free for under 16s.

Halton won 30-2 away to the Walney Terrierson their last outing in British American Football Association's National Football Conference Division Two North.

Impressive performanes were delivered in a Spartans offensethat  racked up an impressive 310 yards in total offense and five touchdowns.

Starting quarterback Peter Carlin had 18 pass attempts, with 4 completions and 1 touchdown pass.

He carried the ball 4 times, rushing for a total of 20 yards.

Running back Alex Martin had another impressive game, with 22 carries for 131 yards and 2 touchdowns. He averaged 5.9 yards per carry.

Fellow running back Martin Murphy carried 14 times, gaining 108 yards, 2 touchdowns and he had a 57 yard rumble to the end zone for a touchdown.

Wide Receiver Ashley Talbot had 1 reception for 12 yards and scored the final touchdown of the game.

The Spartans defence had a skeleton crew, having to use 2 offensive players Ellis Roberts and David Trickle.

The defence only gave up 1 first down, 20 yards rushing and 30 yards thru the air.

Mick Pickergill forced and recovered a fumble, while Conor Tyrer recovered a fumble on a Terrier punt.

Tom Ross picked off the Terrier quarterback in his first defensive start for the Spartans.

The Terriers' only score came after the Spartans red zone defence held them on the half-yard line for 8 straight downs.

The Spartans offensive then took the field and the Terriers were able to tackle a Spartan player in the end zone resulting in a safety for 2 points.

The first MVP belts were handed out after the game was over.
