KEVIN Brown has claimed the First Utility Super League Player of the Month award for May.

The Widnes Vikings stand off’s hat-trick at Magic Weekend was his standout performance of the month.

His display against Salford Red Devils in Newcastle helped the side to a crucial 38-16 win in front of the passionate Widnes fans who made the journey north.

The Vikings skipper also took the man of the match award in the home game against league leaders Leeds Rhinos, where the Vikings impressed in the 38-24 victory.

Brown said: “May has been a great month for me and the lads, so I’m delighted to be awarded the First Utility Super League Player of the Month award.

"The team performance against Leeds was fantastic and to go up to Newcastle and give our fans such a good performance was an ideal way to end a really positive month for us.

“It’s a real honour to win this award, especially as its voted for by the fans, so I’d like to thank all those who voted and the judging panel at First Utility and League Weekly for selecting me.”

The award was presented by lifelong Vikings supporter Clare Jones, who was selected at random to conduct the presentation after voting for Kevin to win the award.
