ON May 27 2015 First Utility Super League team Widnes Vikings will attend Cramlington Rockets training with Newcastle Thunder.

On May 30 and 31 the First Utility Super League Magic Weekend extravaganza will take place at St James’ Park, Newcastle.

Ahead of the Widnes Vikings fixture against Salford Red Devils at 2.30pm on Saturday May 30th, Widnes Vikings will head to Cramlington to meet the Rockets Family.

A couple of weeks ago, Widnes Vikings player and New Zealand Maori star, Hep Cahill, visited Cramlington as part of the Magic Weekend launch activities.

He was so impressed by the enthusiasm of the Rockets family that he has decided to make a return trip – and he will be bringing some of his teammates.

Eamon O’Carroll and Danny Tickle will travel with Hep and all three players will be on hand at our training session to sign autographs, take photos and give some training tips.

Widnes Vikings play in black and white hoops. For the special Magic Weekend occasion they have produced a special edition black and white striped shirt, in keeping with the one worn by St James’ Park hosts Newcastle United.

100 per cent of the profits from sales of the shirt will be donated to the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation. More than £10,000 has been raised through the Widnes Vikings’ initiative!

On Wednesday evening local rugby league side Newcastle Thunder will also be present at the Rockets training session with their own black and white away strip.

Cramlington Chairman Jeff Ball commented: “We would love to see all the Rockets family, including parents and guardians, down at the club on the Wednesday night.”

“To have one professional team visit is fantastic so to have two is unbelievable.”

“We have been really impressed with Widnes Vikings’ efforts to promote rugby league in the North East and a lot of people have a strong connection to the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, so there will definitely be a lot of local people cheering for the Vikings at Magic Weekend!

The Widnes Vikings and Newcastle Thunder players will be at Cramlington Learning Village from 6-8.30pm on Wednesday 27 May. Come on down! We would love to see everyone there!”
