WIDNES slipped to a sixth successive league defeat in their latest league in deepest Cumbria.
Hit by injuries and players not available, they were never at the races in this one as Carlisle confirmed their survival in North One West for another season.
The home side raced into 29 – 5 half time lead before going on to complete the job in style in the second half.
The only bright spots in a disappointing afternoon, were tries by Tom Spencer and two from Kevin Leadbetter who also added a couple of conversions.
