WIDNES Vikings have revealed their striking new home shirt for the 2015 First Utility Super League season.

The new principal sponsors of the Vikings for the 2015 season, The Parcel Centre, delivered the shirt in style.

The kit, manufactured by O’Neills Irish Sportswear, was flown over to England and delivered to the Vikings’ HQ courtesy of The Parcel Centre. Top Hollywood videographers, MJR Pictures, captured the day’s events.

Widnes Vikings' partnership with O’Neills is entering its sixth successive season.

The current deal will see the Irish company provide official kit and leisurewear to the Vikings until the end of the 2017 season making this one of the longest kit deals in top flight Rugby League.

O’Neills Sportswear replica and playing shirts are manufactured from a range of high quality advanced fibres which are used to produce a fabric called Koolite.

Koolite fabric is cool, breathable, and offers high-wicking properties for enhanced wearer comfort. It also includes antibacterial properties and good shape retention which remain effective after multiple washing cycles.

The pro playing jersey is available in a skin-tight fit and is fully reinforced using a felled seam to withstand the toughest of treatment.

Personalised silicone clear gripper is added to the finished garment in order to enhance ball retention in close tackle contact.

The Vikings' 2015 home kit incorporates the Viking 'V' synonymous with the Club's return to Super League in 2012.

For the first time, the 2015 home jersey incorporates a lime green trim alongside the traditional black and white colours usually associated with the Club.

Vikings Director, Brian O’Connor commented: "The colour green is synonymous with the Widnes Vikings' Stronghold Membership. The Stronghold Membership scheme was launched in 2011 to enable fans to support the club in a way that would give them some exclusive offers and benefits in return for their loyalty. The idea is based on the membership model offered through many NRL clubs.

"The Viking Stronghold has gone from strength to strength every year since it launched. This year's deals for Stronghold Membership are the best yet and offer an estimated value of £460 for adults and £430 for juniors.

"The 2015 home design incorporates a ‘Stronghold Vein’ running the heart of the jersey signifying the importance of the Club's Member base.  Our members are the lifeblood of this great club and their continued investment will allow us to continue to improve both on the field and within the local community of Halton."

Kevin Brown was one of the players that took part in the kit launch event. He thought the kit looked fantatsic the first time he saw it. “The kit is really bright, almostly completely white, and it looks great.

"The green thread in the ‘V’ across the chest that replicates the green of the Vikings Stonghold is a pretty nice touch. With the green representing Club members on the shirt we'll definitely run out feeling the support of our '18th man'.

"Every year the kit gets lighter and more comfortable and this year things have moved on again. We’ve been with O’Neills for a few years now and this year they have done another cracking job.”
