AFTER an amazing first season in the NIHL Laidler Conference, Widnes Wild are targeting promotion in 2014-15.

Their season gets under way on Saturday, September 6 at home to reigning champions Solihull Barons — the only team Widnes did not beat last term.

The next day, Wild entertain Blackburn Eagles.

The following weekend sees Wild at Deeside for a huge game against their local rivals.

Widnes return home the following Sunday to play Coventry Blaze.

On October 26 Wild face one of the two new teams in the league when they travel to play Bradford Bulldogs.

The other team new to the league — Telford Tigers — will visit Widnes two weekends in a row, meeting Wild for the first time on November 23 and again on November 30.

“We have put together a team that is more than capable of achieving the target.

“We have the most vocal fans in the league and a rink that provides an amazing atmosphere.

“The people of Widnes and Runcorn have embraced ice hockey, and especially Wild.

“I am sure the players will reward them by giving them an exciting season.”
