Local Widnes martial arts club, Supreme Taekwondo Academy, had something to cheer about over the last couple of weeks.

The club held two belt promotion gradings, the first a coloured belt grading, then two days later a Black belt Dan grade promotion.

Each grading examination gave students the chance to showcase their talents and attempt to progress to the next belt.

The first grading was for the coloured belt candidates. Seven students performed in front of Chief Instructor Master Lee Beddows, 7th Dan Blackbelt. Each performed fantastically and all students passed the examination with flying colours. These included; Isaac Sumner passed from white belt to yellow tag.

Jacob Sumner passed from yellow tag to yellow belt.

Ryan Vieira passed from yellow tag to yellow belt.

Aleshandra Vieira passed from yellow tag to yellow belt.

Poppy Shaw passed from yellow belt to green tag.

Phoebe Knight passed from red tag to red belt.

Eleanor Gollins passed from red tag to red belt.

Next was the turn of the Black belts, taking place a couple of days later, again seven candidates were put through their paces. The students had a gruelling test having to show their skills in all aspects of Taekwondo. Once again, all performed perfectly and deservingly gained the required scores to be promoted to the next grade.

Master Lee said that “the standard was excellent!” They were 2 very tough gradings and all students performed exceptionally well. They should be really proud of themselves, as I am of them all, “well done!” The successful Black belt candidates were as follows; Andrew Knight passed from 1st Dan to 2nd Dan.

Luke Beddows passed from 1st Dan to 2nd Dan James Lunt passed from 1st Dan to 2nd Dan.

Nathan Gollins passed from 2nd Dan to 3rd Dan Sarah Palmer passed from 2nd Dan to 3rd.

Dan Sandra Baldwin passed from 2nd Dan to 3rd.

Dan Barry Hillyer passed from 3rd Dan to 4th.
