WIDNES 26 WARRINGTON 20.
Widnes were pushed all the way in this keenly fought derby affair at Heath Road.
The home side were never comfortable throughout this contest despite having a early lead, and holding the advantage at half time, thanks to tries from Rob Critchley, Dave Welsh and Kevin Leadbetter.
In the second period, Warrington had chances to win the game but poor execution with the last pass mixed in with some excellent Widnes defence, saw the home side get over the finishing line.
On Saturday, Lee McDermott’s side make the long trip up the M6 to face Carlisle.
