Widnes, playing their first league game for nearly a month, got their show back on the road with a comfortable win over basement side Altrincham Kersal at Heath Road.
The home side looked rusty throughout and their cutting edge was missing for long periods, but they were still too good for their South Manchester opponents who look destined for the drop after suffering a fifteenth successive defeat.
Man of the match, Paul O’Connor was red hot for Widnes scoring two first half tries before easing themselves to victory with further scores from Josh Argent and Jon Hetherington. Matty Smith added two conversions before AK scored a consolation effort.
Widnes play host to Warrington on Saturday, kick off 3.00pm.
