Widnes will be hoping to get their show back on the road again in North One West, when they take on Altrincham Kersal in a re-arranged league fixture this coming Saturday at Heath Road.

There was disappointment all round, as last weekend’s second v third clash against Birkenhead Park was washed out, so they will be hoping for better things on Saturday against the league’s basement side.

Lee McDermott’s side need to get back to winning ways after two defeats in three, and will be delighted in they can secure another victory, even if it means knocking another nail into the relegation coffin of their South Manchester opponents who look all but doomed now.

In the first meeting between the sides back in October, the men from Heath Road twice coughed up a comfortable winning margin, and, in the end, they were fortunate to come away with a narrow 31 – 25 victory.

At the time, for Widnes, it was their seventh successive win which left them clear at the top of the table, but for Altrincham Kersal, it was the start of a miserable run which currently leaves them marooned at the foot of the table with just eight rounds of the competition left.

The game kicks off at 2.15pm.
