Widnes got back to winning ways with, what in the end, was a comfortable victory over Wilmslow. But, they had to do it the hard way - battling back from a ten point deficit midway through the first half - to finally claim the points.

The visitors were much more enthusiastic early on, and a try from prop forward Meek, along with a conversion and a penalty from Bob McCallum gave them a ten point cushion.

Widnes, slowly began to wake up to the challenge, and tries from Matty Smith, Paul O’Connor and Phil Glover saw them get their noses in front at the break.

Wilmslow’s only second half reply was another penalty from Bob McCallum, before Widnes turned the screw with two further tries from prop forward Arnie Haydock, and a penalty and a conversion from Matty Smith.

Lee McDermott’s side have a week off now, before a trip to face league leaders Wirral.
