WIDNES make a welcome return to action on Saturday in North One West, when they make the long trip up the M6 to face Wigton at Lowmoor Road.
It seems an age since they last took to the field back on December 14th, when they pulled off an excellent win at Vale of Lune to cement a third place finish in the table at the half way stage of the campaign.
This will be another tough one though for Lee McDermott’s side. Wigton currently lie fifth in the table, having turned their Lowmoor Road base into something of a fortress with seven wins from eight home games so far.
Widnes though, have a good away record themselves, with five wins, a draw, and just one loss – a last gasp defeat at Kendal – so they can make the trip with plenty of confidence. They also have the added bonus of a 36 – 20 home win against their rivals back in September.
The players took part in some punishing hill training over the holiday period to shake off some of the post Christmas celebrations, so should be in tip top condition and raring to go.
