Rugby union: Warrington 34 Widnes 34
8:11pm Sunday 3rd November 2013 in Sport
Widnes can consider themselves extremely lucky to come away with a draw after conceding 21 points inside the last ten minutes to give Warrington a deserved share of the spoils.
The visitors never really looked in danger after building up a 22 – 13 half time lead with tries from Paul O’Connor, Jonny Leather (2) and Chris Atkin who also added a conversion.
Two more tries from Phil Glover and Chris Atkin along with another conversion, meant that Widnes led by 34pts – 13 with just eleven minutes left.
After that, though, it was all Warrington, who came roaring back into the contest to score three converted tries, and it was Widnes who were left hanging on as the final whistle sounded to end a pulsating contest. Widnes will be hoping for better things on Saturday when they take on Carlisle at Heath Road, kick off 2.15pm
