RUNCORN Linnets' record-breaking FA Cup run finally came to an end in a 2-0 defeat at Conference North side North Ferriby in the third qualifying round.
In a competitively fought tie, Nathan Jarman's two second half goals ended Linnets' brave challenge against a side three tiers above them.
A close first half saw chances for both sides. Linnets 'keeper Adam Judge kept out efforts from Gregg Anderson and Jamie Yates.
Meanwhile, at the other end Michael Burke headed Runcorn's best chance wide from Matt Cross' corner.
However, the hosts acme out the stronger after the break and took the lead on the hour, Jarman heading home Yates' cross.
And soon after, Jarman converted from close range to give North Feriby a two-goal advantage.
Runcorn fought on, Ross McDowell's header going only just over.
Judge then made a great save from North Ferriby skipper Matt Wilson to ensure the scoreline remained at 2-0 following another highly credible cup performance.
