Huddersfield Giants half-back Danny Brough, Wigan Warriors loose forward Sean O’Loughlin and Leeds Rhinos second row Jamie Peacock have today been shortlisted for the prestigious 2013 Super League Man of Steel award.

The Man of Steel is the player who is deemed to have made the biggest impact on the season, and has been the sport’s most prized individual award since its inception in 1977.

Brough has enjoyed a fine season with the Giants, leading his side by example and guiding Huddersfield to the top of the table at the end of regular season for the first time in 81 years. The mercurial half-back has also topped the goal kicking charts in 2013.

O’Loughlin is shortlisted after another outstanding season for the Warriors. His consistency is highlighted by being named in the last three consecutive Super League Dream Teams and the Wigan captain now has a chance of winning Rugby League’s ultimate individual accolade.

Veteran Jamie Peacock has surpassed all expectations in this, his 14thSuper League season. Peacock is looking to become only the fourth player to win a second Man of Steel award, having claimed the title a decade ago whilst playing for Bradford Bulls in 2003.

The 2013 Super League Man of Steel will be named at a gala dinner hosted at Old Trafford cricket ground in Manchester on Monday September 30, where other prestigious Super League awards will be presented, including Coach of the Year and Young Player of the Year.

The three nominees for the coveted 2013 Super League Young Player of the Year are Hull FC centre Ben Crooks, London Broncos wing Kieran Dixon and Catalan Dragons full-back Morgan Escare.

Crooks, 20, has slipped seamlessly into the Hull FC first team this season, appearing at Wembley in the Tetley’s Challenge Cup final and being selected in the 2013 Dream Team. Dixon, 21, scored 21 tries in 24 appearances for London Broncos this year, whilst Escare, 21, scored 15 tries from full-back in 2013.

The 2013 Super League Man of Steel will be crowned five days before the 2013 Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford, Manchester, on Saturday October 5 (6.00pm).

Tickets for the 2013 Super League Grand Final cost from just £20. Family tickets giving entry to two adults and two children are also available for £70 and can be purchased by visiting www.rugbyleaguetickets.co.uk or calling 0844 856 1113.
