Ashton on Mersey Colts - 7 Widnes Colts - 36.

Widnes reached the Raging Bull League Vase Final for the second year running with a comfortable victory over their Manchester opponents. Widnes had the game wrapped up by half time racing into a 26-0 lead.

Adam Watson powered over under the post from 7 yards out after Liam Quinn and Mike Jones had gone close. Tom Beech added the simple conversion. Olly Glover extended the Wids lead after slick hands from the Widnes three quarters, Beech added his second conversion. Liam Lawton linked up from full back to race over from 30 yards to score under the posts, Beech added the extras. Wing man Liam Quinn scored just before the break after good work from forwards Geoff Cooke, Joe Galloway and Aaron Duggan to leave the Wids in command.

The second half saw Ashton have more of the play as Widnes conceded numerous penalties in a stop start affair.

Left wing Luke Nelson got the Wids back on track scoring after recycling the ball on a number of occasions. Aaron Duggan got a well deserved try after Widnes had carried the ball well through Danny Berry, Patrick Tyrrell and Mitch Dyas.

With a few minutes remaining Ashton got a well deserved try for their efforts and commitment on a very heavy pitch where handling became difficult as the game went on.

Aaron Duggan was awarded the Liberty Living for Students man of the match pushed closely by Captain Geoff Cooke.

Widnes hope to play their re-arranged Lancashire Cup quarter final at home to Southport on Sunday 2.00pm kick off.
