Widnes got back to winning ways when they beat basement side Fleetwood in a poor game at Heath Road.
They were on the score sheet after just five minutes when Paul O’Connor crossed, and two more tries mid-way through the half from Arnie Haydock and Gareth Riley, along with three Kevin Leadbetter conversions saw them leading 21 – 0 at the break.
Fleetwood, who were enthusiastic throughout, upped their efforts at the start of the second period, but Widnes were always in control and further tries from O’Connor, Matty Smith and Haydock again along with another conversion from Leadbetter, wrapped up their first league win in four attempts.
