Wids hope for a change in fortune

Widnes will be hoping for a change in fortune this weekend when they take on relegation threatened Fleetwood at Heath Road.

A fourth defeat in five – albeit a narrow one against Vale of Lune - has meant that Lee McDermott’s side have slipped out of the running in the promotion stakes, and with the squad suffering a major injury crisis, especially in the front row department, their remaining fixtures are likely to test their resolve to the full.

Fleetwood, on the other hand, have been down on their luck all season, bottom of the table and without a win of any kind since September. They will be anxious to end their season with a bang rather than a whimper, and what better way to do it, than by pulling off a shock result against their Cheshire hosts.
