West Bank Bears U’18s 18 v 24 Wigan St Cuthberts

This was the first match of the 2013 season, and it was a good competitive match for both. Unfortunately Bank just ran out of time and were defeated by a big Wigan outfit. Although it was the Bears who struck first thanks to a Tom Dempsey penalty to go 2-0 up. After that silly errors help the visitors gain valuable metres forward and the pressure told when they crashed over for a couple of tries.

The second half was much improved by the Bears and the tries they scored were good team tries. Aaron Naughton touched down twice and the final Bears try came from Tom Duggan with Dempsey converting two goals.

Wigan St Cuthberts gave their top three men of the matches to Tom Dempsey, Tom Duggan and Ben Salter. But there were also good performances for Ste Dunn, Ryan Dyas and Aaron Naughton.
