Challenges keep coming for Wids

The challenges just keep coming thick and fast for Widnes in North One West, when they take on promotion chasing Vale of Lune at Heath Road.
Last week’s loss at Wilmslow, makes it a worrying three defeats in the last four games for Lee McDermott’s men who have now been caught and overtaken in the table by in-form Wirral who continue to remain unbeaten in 2013.
The two sides could not be separated in an epic drawn game at Powder House Lane back in December, but since then Vale have steadied the ship after a mid-season wobble and re-discovered much of their form of earlier in the season.
Last weekend, Vale did themselves a favour by putting a dent in the promotion ambitions of Sale in a 23 – 23 draw, and Widnes will be hoping that they do a similar job on their Lancastrian opponents, who are coached by old boy Paul Woodward.
The game kicks off at 3.00pm.
