WIDNES will be hoping to give themselves an early Christmas present on Saturday, when they travel to face Manchester at Grove Park in their last league game before the half-term break.

The result of this one should have been a foregone conclusion, but with Manchester winning their first league game of the season against Anselmians last weekend, has now put a completely different perspective on things.

After seeing off Kirkby Lonsdale, Head Coach Lee McDermott will not need to remind his men about the potential banana skin that awaits them should they fail to go into the game in the right frame of mind.

And, with league results continuing to throw up a whole host of surprises, Widnes will do well to heed the warnings and avoid any slip ups.
