Wids aiming to be in contention

WIDNES will be looking to back up the weekend’s sensational victory at Altrincham Kersal when they take on Wilmslow in North One West at Heath Road on Saturday.

Their pack was irresistible at the weekend and the enthusiasm shown by the young brigade left the conquerors of Sale the previous week with nowhere left to go.

Wilmslow have a mixed bag of results so far this season, with four wins against teams from the bottom end of the table – Anselmians, Manchester, Kirkby Lonsdale and Leigh – matched by defeats against teams at the top end, including Vale of Lune, Liverpool St Helens Sale and Rochdale.

Should Widnes be successful in achieving the win, they will leapfrog their rivals and be ready to pounce should any of the top sides slip up.

The game kicks off at 3pm.
