THE 52-member Kidlington Silver Band had good reason to blow its own trumpet in 1980.
It had blown away the opposition and in just a year of senior national competition, had been promoted to the next division.
Three teenage members – Alison Croxon, Sara Manners and Tony Floyd – had been offered places in the National Youth Brass Band.
The band, however, was determined not to rest on its laurels, and to follow that old adage – that practice makes perfect. Hopefully!
