A PATRIOTIC firework display will light up the sky over the landmark Silver Jubilee bridge on November 5.

Hits from British artists such as Adele, Coldplay, The Beatles, Madness, and Take That, plus rousing Last Night of the Prom classics, Rule Britannia and Pomp & Circumstance, will accompany a spectacular 20-minute display.

Entertainment starts at 6.30pm on both sides of the River Mersey, in West Bank, Widnes, and Mersey Road, Runcorn.

The ‘Best of Britain’ show begins at 7.30pm, fired by pyrotechnic experts from the Manchester Ship Canal.

Cllr Eddie Jones, Halton Council’s board member for events, said: “This is one of the biggest and best displays in the area and is free and safe for everyone to enjoy.

"As a nation, I think we are immensely proud of everyone who has been part of 2012, a really significant year for Britain.

“This ‘Best of Britain’ display will be something to celebrate with your community.
