Charity bag pack for hospital radio station
10:20am Friday 19th October 2012 in News By Barbara Jordan
A CHARITY bag pack is being held at Tesco in Runcorn’s Halton Lea shopping centre tomorrow, Saturday, October 20, from 11.30am to 3pm,.
Volunteers are raising funds for Radio Halton, which keeps patients at Halton Hospital entertained and informed.
Radio Halton volunteer, Pam Eastwood said: “We’re finding it really hard to secure funding to keep the service going for patients, staff and visitors.
“It makes such a difference for a patient to just chat to one of our volunteers on the ward.
“ We talk about music, the weather, memories from their lives or anything.
“One lady told us about when she was Miss Runcorn in 1947, which was fascinating. Some patients don’t have many visitors and this is why our service is so important for them.”
Staff from H&T Pawnbrokers in Halton Lea have offered to help collect donations at the supermarket
