DRAMA students rehearsing for Phantom of the Opera had a masterclass with a professional actress who performed Andrew Lloyd’s musical in the West End.

Zoe Curlett, who played the leading role of Christine, met the cast of the performing arts centre of excellence at Cronton Sixth Form College.

They will be staging the musical at Riverside College, from November 28-30.

Former Fairfield School pupil, Zoe, aged 37, from Farnworth, said: “I really had a lovely time meeting such talented young performers.

“I have been very honoured in being asked to be a patron of the college. I'm looking forward to watching the show as Halton has a vast amount of talent.”

Zoe answered questions and showed students the Phantom’s mask and boots.

Jessica Thickitt, aged 17, of Mayfair Grove, Widnes, said: “I was amazed I got Christine. It’s every girl’s dream.”

Rights for Phantom were only released last year. Riverside is one of the first colleges to perform the show.
