HALTON Haven is having a makeover, thanks to an army of volunteers.

Around 200 staff from Halton Housing Trust are spending 10 days painting the hospice.

They have donated 60 cans of paint to cover 760 sq ft of walls, plus all the equipment.

Claire Nedugodan, project officer, of Beechwood, said: “It’s important for me to help my local community. I’ve enjoyed painting the hospice. It’s great to know that I’m helping such a worthwhile cause.”

Lee Jones, a quantity surveyor, from Widnes, said: “Everybody who lives in the area knows someone who has spent time at the hospice so it’s important to help.”

In March, staff painted the inside of the hospice, varnished outdoor furniture, installed a shower room, and tidied the gardens.

Ciaran Clotworthy, hospice events manager, said: “The relationship we have with Halton Housing Trust is absolutely superb.

“The level of support we receive means so much to everyone.

“I can’t thank them enough for helping to make the hospice a better place.”
