A MAN was punched and had his wallet stolen on his way home from a Runcorn nightclub.

Police today appealed for witnesses.

The 20-year-old victim had agreed to share a taxi with a man as he left Bank Chambers in High Street, at around 2.15am on Sunday, September 2.

The pair was joined by a friend of the man and walked towards the railway arches in Lord Street.

The first man then punched the victim and jumped on top of him, before stealing his wallet which contained cash.

The two men then ran off.

The victim suffered minor facial injuries which did not require hospital treatment.

The first man is described as white, in his mid-twenties, about 6ft 2ins tall and of average build. He had short black hair and some stubble on his chin. He was wearing a black long-sleeved shirt with black trousers and shoes.

The second man is described as white, in his mid-twenties, between 5ft 9ins and 5ft 10ins tall and of heavy build. He was wearing a waistcoat and shirt.
